What race does at work. And what we can do about it.

I ran human resources for a local government before researching organizations. In France and Quebec, I measure the barriers that hold racialized people back, and I equip those who want to remove them: leadership teams and professionals alike.

What few experts bring together

I was an HR director.

Twenty years in the French civil service, four of them heading HR for a city: I know where the decisions that block, or unblock, a career are made.

I bring data, not impressions.

Two master's degrees, a doctorate under way, twelve publications, two funded studies, a talk at the UN. My conclusions can be argued with numbers in hand.

I work on both sides.

Of the Atlantic, between France, Guadeloupe and Quebec. And of the table: the organizations that decide, and the racialized people moving up.

Numbers, an insider's reading, a plan that holds.

Never a diagnosis without indicators you can track yourself.

A reading by someone who has held the job.

A 90-day plan, not an annual report.

Four subjects

01

Race and access to leadership roles

Who gets in, who is kept at a distance, and through which mechanisms. France – Quebec comparative data.

02

Public service and equity policy

What equity plans and new public management are worth once you look at the numbers.

03

Subtle exclusion, microaggressions and mental health

What small exclusions do to health and careers, and how to prevent them. Award-winning topic, CRHA Congress 2025.

04

Immigration, entrepreneurship and inclusion

Immigrant and minority women in employment and entrepreneurship; entrepreneurs with disabilities.

Guadeloupe, 2014

In 2014 I became HR director of a city in Guadeloupe. I was expected to roll out a scheme; I proposed a process instead: build workplace health with staff, not for them. Three years later the French Senate gave us the Territoria Prize. What I kept: nothing lasting is done against people. That is true of prevention. It is true of equity.

Documentary · fall 2026

Des racines et des rêves

A film about Black women and the Quebec labour market. What happens when the woman who holds everything together wants to lead, not just carry?

I don't ask whether they have potential. I ask where they were placed, and who decided.
